Johnny Cash’s FIRST Grand Ole Opry Appearance | July 7th, 1956 | I Walk The Line
This is Johnny Cash’s VERY FIRST Grand Ole Opry appearance from July of 1956. As many “reliable” sources have stated, he performed several songs such as “Get Rythym”, “So Doggone Lonesome”, “I Walk The Line” and others; I’m sorry to say that he DID NOT perform the songs “So Doggone Lonesome” and “Get Rythym” on his first appearance. Songs on this set: • Folsom Prison Blues • I Walk The Line

This particular appearance is from one of the first TV appearances he made at the Opry. This was originally thought to be 1955 however the Esquire that Luther was using was never received until 1956. It was originally thought that the Jackie Gleason Show was his first television appearance but this may very well be it.
